Cob has been used for centuries to build sustainable, low-cost, efficient housing. Cob (similar to adobe) is a combination of earth, clay, straw, sand, and water to produce a very strong, habitable structure. As mentioned, cob is a very inexpensive way to build, has great thermal mass potential (which allows for natural cooling in the summer and natural heating during the winter), and can be built to suit any application. Cobb is naturally fire resistant and the material can be used to make ovens. I plan on doing some research on cob structures. I think that most of the materials can be found at Crocket Creek.
